# Nine Across

> Free word tools in British English: an anagram solver, a word unscrambler, a Wordle solver, a codeword solver, a crossword letter solver, a random word generator, word lists, our own word game (Five Across), and daily hints for Wordle, Connections and Strands. Everything runs in the browser against a list of about 110,000 words. No sign up.

Nine Across is independent. Wordle, Connections and Strands belong to The New York Times Company and we have no connection with them. Our word list is built from the open SCOWL project (British English, American-only spellings removed). It is not the official Scrabble dictionary.

## Notes for citing
- Daily answers come from the puzzles' public data. Hints are written by us from that data.
- Pages that give an answer say so at the top. Hint pages keep the answer sealed.
- Figures such as "RAISE leaves 52 answers on average" are calculated by us against our own answer list of 2,011 common five letter words.
