How we write the hints

We take each day's puzzle data and write the hints from it ourselves. For Wordle that means the vowels, then the letters, then the ends of the word, then a rhyme. For Connections it is one easy word, then the four themes. For Strands it is the clue, the word lengths and the spangram.

Wordle, Connections and Strands belong to The New York Times Company. Nine Across has no connection with them.
