How the Wordle solver works
Every guess removes words. Green fixes a letter in place, yellow says the letter is in the word but elsewhere, and grey rules it out. The solver replays each guess against every five-letter word in the list and keeps only the words that would have produced exactly your colours.
Common words are listed first, because Wordle rarely picks an obscure one. The suggested next guess is the remaining word that shares the most letters, in the right places, with all the others.

How do I use the Wordle solver?
Type the word you guessed and press Add. Then tap each tile until its colour matches what Wordle showed you: grey for not in the word, yellow for the wrong place, green for the right place. The list underneath shows every word still possible.
Does it suggest my next guess?
Yes. It picks a word from those still possible whose letters, in their positions, are the most common in the remaining list. That tends to narrow the field fastest.
How does it handle double letters?
The way Wordle does. A second copy of a letter is only marked yellow or green if the answer really has two, so a grey second copy correctly means there is just one.
What is the best first guess?
Against our list of 2,011 likely answers, RAISE leaves the fewest words on average, with ORATE and IRATE close behind. The full ranking is on the best starting words page.
Which words does it know?
British English five letter words from a list of about 110,000. Words Wordle has never used can appear, so common words are listed first.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It is built for thumbs, and nothing you type leaves your device.
